[Macpartners] question about signature

Hi -

I use Mac Mail for my MIT email, and I have this odd thing going with my signature.  When I write an email and include the signature block  it is its normal size (see bottom of this email).  But when someone replies to me the signature has grown is size significantly - see the attached screenshot.  Why does this happen?  Does anyone else have this problem?  Note also the that the tag line below my signature stays the normal size.  Most of the people here at Libraries use Outlook even with their Macs and I wonder if that is the problem?  Suggestions?
