Greetings,
I'm attempting to assist a user who's Macbook Pro will not restart or shut down (grey pinwheel) and also has a faulty combo drive. We were hoping to see if a clean install (via usb key) would have any positive effect.
The install starts well enough but when it goes to reboot and continue with the installation, it hangs (grey pinwheel). If you force it down with the power button, upon reboot it starts (all over again) the initial install process.
I suppose I could boot to usb key and restore from TMB but am wondering if there's another possible method for me to clean install 10.7 here… keeping in mind the machine cannot restart itself.
Any tips techniques or available open windows to throw this machine out of would be kindly appreciated. :)
