Good Morning,

On June 6 at its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced that its
next operating system ‹ Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) ‹ would be available to the
general public sometime in July.

For the past several months, IS&T has been testing pre-release builds of
Lion against MIT's core services and systems. During this time, several
incompatibilities have been found with key MIT applications, including
McAfee Security Suite, SAPgui, and Fetch. The new version of Mac OS X also
breaks the authentication mechanism used by our Kerberos servers.

For these reasons, IS&T strongly recommends that all users wait to upgrade
existing hardware to Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).

IS&T will continue to work with Apple and third-party vendors to resolve
outstanding issues with Lion and will update the MIT community as
solutions and workarounds become available.
