Good Morning,
As of February 1, 2012, Information Services & Technology (IS&T) will no longer offer support for Apple machines running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). This decision was made based on the following criteria:
Lack of support from Apple and third-party vendors for business-critical applications in Leopard: Mail, iCal, Safari, etc.
Age of operating system (> 4 years)
IS&T support resources needed to support multiple Apple operating systems
As a reminder, IS&T strongly recommends a three-year hardware-renewal cycle for all departments, labs, and centers (DLCs). This timeline helps to ensure that machines are current enough to run the software recommended and supported by both IS&T and third-party vendors.
Those looking to upgrade equipment can view IS&T’s hardware recommendations online. For further assistance, contact the Help Desk at 617.253.1101 or helpdesk at mit.edu. You can also submit a request online.
