[Macpartners] TSM restores files that can't be seen, except via a terminal window.

That sure sounds strange, Mark.
Did you try copying the files you restored to the G5 (that were visible there) over to the Intel Mac?
Is there something unusual about the file/folder names? Do the create/modify/opened dates, etc. appear to be valid?
You mentioned Word and Powerpoint. Are the missing files all MSOffice related?
Have you asked DiskUtility what it thinks of the volume?
Perhaps someone else will have better suggestions.
