We are planning to have a meeting in January to introduce Hermes to IT  
support providers:

Date:      Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Time:      10am - 12pm
Location: 32-144 (classroom on Student Street in Stata)

Coffee, bagels, and donuts will be provided


What is Hermes?

Last October the Hermes IT knowledge base was launched.  It's the  
first of its kind at MIT that provides contribution capability for the  
entire IT support community.  The benefit is that all MIT affiliates  
looking for IT solutions can now search Hermes and retrieve the  
broadest possible results.  It's a unique opportunity to accumulate  
and disseminate knowledge about MIT-specific IT products and services.

Why would you use it?

As an IT support person, this is an avenue for you to quickly and  
easily contribute your knowledge and expertise thereby helping those  
in the MIT community to meet their computing needs.  Publishing in  
Hermes takes a few minutes and is well worth it whether you help five  
people or five hundred.


What will be covered at this meeting?

There will be a demo of Hermes that will include an overview of the  
search capabilities and the process for publishing articles.   
Attendees will have the chance to publish an IT article that they  
bring with them to the meeting.  There will be time for questions and  
discussion.


What do you need to do to attend?

-Please RSVP by replying to this message
-Bring your laptop to the meeting
-Bring an IT solution or tip that you would like to contribute to  
Hermes.  It can be anything related to IT that you've found useful in  
your work, e.g. network connectivity issues and solutions, software  
application tips and tricks.
