I hope that everyone's having a good New Year. With MacWorld next
week and IAP in full swing, there are a number of Apple related events
I wanted to make sure people were aware of.

First off, I'll be giving a recap of MacWorld at the January
MacPartners meeting Tuesday, January 22, 2007. Later in the month,
there are three Apple related IAP sessions covering the iPhone, 10.5
Server and Developer Tools. Details for all upcoming events are
included below.

If you're attending MacWorld and would like to meet up with other MIT
folks, send me an e-mail off list and I'll keep you posted on any
plans that might come up.

Tuesday January 24, 2008, 1 - 2:30 p.m.
32-155
http://student.mit.edu/searchiap/iap-8447.html

The Apple iPhone was introduced in June, 2007 and changed the way we
think about smartphones. One of the key features of the iPhone is the
ability to view full web sites as well as take advantage of web
applications specifically designed for the iPhone.

This session will provide an introduction to the iPhone and web
applications:

1. Introduction to the iPhone
2. How does the iPhone work @ MIT?
3. Web Applications for the iPhone: Examples
4. How to create Web Applications for the iPhone

Introduction to Mac OS X Leopard Server
Tuesday January 29, 2008, 1 - 2:30 p.m.
Broad Auditorium, 7 Cambridge Center
http://student.mit.edu/searchiap/iap-8312.html

Most people have seen Apple's Mac OS X client software, but have you
ever seen their server solution? Built on open source technologies and
open standards, Apple has created a product that can easily fit into
just about any environment. During this session, Stephen Ragalevsky, a
senior systems engineer with Apple, will give an introduction to Mac
OS X 10.5 Server and cover topics such as deployment, collaboration
tools, podcast producer and how to integrate it with existing MIT
infrastructure.

Mac OS X Leopard Development Tools
Thursday January 31, 2008, 1 - 3:00 p.m.
32-123
http://student.mit.edu/searchiap/iap-8440.html

Leopard, Apple's sixth major release of Mac OS X, contains many new
features geared towards developers. Join Steve Hayman, a National
Consulting Engineer with Apple's US Education Team, as he discuss
these tools, including:

+ XCode and Interface Builder 3.0
+ Instruments, a performance visualization tool built on top of the
open source DTrace utility
+ Reusable frameworks included in Mac OS X

During his talk, Steve will create an application using some of these
tools, and if we are lucky, it might involve an unplanned
demonstration of the debugger as well.
