[Macpartners] VirusScan 8.5

Hi,
I run VirusScan 8.5 nightly to scan my whole disk, and every morning  
the first thing I see is a report saying that a large number of files  
could not be scanned because: they are locked, or permission denied.
I ran the Disk Utility to fix permissions, with no visible result on  
VirusScan.
There is another problem with VS 8.5. When I use it for anything,  
even to read the session log, it takes close to 100% of the CPU, but  
the Activity Monitor says that it is Not Responding.
This is on a G5 Mac, running OS 10.4.8

What is wrong?
