Good morning.
IS&T is pleased to announce the release of updated versions of SAPgui for Mac OS
X and Windows XP users:
- SAPgui 6.40 revision 6 for PowerPC-based Macintoshes running Mac OS X 10.4
"Tiger"
- SAPgui 6.40 revision 5 for Windows XP Pro service pack 2
IS&T is releasing these updates to address issues that some SAPgui users may be
experiencing with previous versions of SAPgui on Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" and
Windows XP Professional.
In addition, SAPgui 6.40 rev. 5 will be the required version for SAPgui users on
Windows XP Professional beginning January 31, 2007; see "Who should upgrade"
below.
SAPgui 6.40 revision 6 for Mac OS X
-----------------------------------
Fixes
- a bug that delayed file uploads from a Macintosh to SAP has been corrected
- a bug that could cause SAPgui to hang when pasting large blocks of data from
the clipboard to SAPgui has been corrected
- updated the installer so that SAPgui uses the proper Java Runtime Environment
Enhancements
The handling of line ending characters has been improved. Text files downloaded
with SAPgui 6.40 rev. 6 now use line feed, the standard line ending character
for Unix-based operating systems such as Mac OS X. In addition, text files
uploaded to SAP can now use any of the three standard line endings: line feed
(LF), carriage return (CR) or carriage return plus line feed (CR+LF).
SAPgui 6.40 revision 5 for Windows XP Professional
--------------------------------------------------
Fixes
- improved viewer controls for the presentation of tabular data
Enhancements
- uses the Microsoft Installer (.msi) and supports installations in managed
environments via group policy
System requirements
-------------------
SAPgui 6.40 revision 6 for Mac OS X
- PowerPC-based Macintosh with at least 512 MB of RAM
- Mac OS X 10.4.7
SAPgui 6.40 revision 5 for Windows XP

Who should upgrade
------------------
IS&T recommends that current SAPgui users on PowerPC-based Macintoshes running
Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" consider upgrading to SAPgui 6.40 rev. 6. Macintosh users
running Mac OS X 10.3.9 "Panther" should continue to use SAPgui 6.30.
Please note that Intel-based Macintoshes are not supported by this version; IS&T
expects SAP to release a version of SAPgui that runs natively on Intel-based
Macs later this year. In the interim, SAPgui users on Intel-based Macintoshes
should continue to use Citrix.
IS&T recommends that SAPgui users on Windows XP Professional machines upgrade to
SAPgui 6.40 rev. 5. Please note that, after January 31, 2007, Windows XP
Professional users will be required to use IS&T supported SAPgui 6.40 rev. 5,
or higher, in order to have continued SAPgui access to MIT's SAP systems.
