Tom, check the Intel Mac entry at the Mac Partners weblog: http://

Regarding running Office 2004 on Intel Macs: it works very well.  
However, like any application that uses Rosetta on Intel Macs, it  
runs slower than it would on the same speed G5-based Macintosh. That  
being said, users upgrading from G4-based Macs will notice a speed  
increase on an Intel Mac.

And finally, Office isn't a processor-intense suite of applications.  
No matter how fast your machine runs, a user can only type so fast in  
Word, for example.
