I haven't tried this but alternatives include VirtualPC --
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/virtualpc/virtualpc.aspx?pid=virtualpc
--(Microsoft, not free) or Bochs -- http://bochs.sourceforge.net/ --(x86
emulator, free) running a real DOS disk image. Bochs is dog slow, but for DOS,
it shouldn't matter -- it'd be harder to configure though. It seems it hasn't
been updated in a while.

There should probably be a port of Gnumeric available for Mac OS X via Fink --
http://fink.sourceforge.net/ -- and FinkCommander --
http://finkcommander.sourceforge.net/ -- but neither are trivial setups
(compared to the Mac way of getting things working). OpenOffice.org --
http://www.openoffice.org/ -- which comes with a Mac OS X installer,
NeoOffice/J -- http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/en/index.php -- a fork of
OpenOffice.org, and RagTime Solo for personal use -- http://www.comgrafix.com/
-- all include a spreadsheet component that should be Excel-savvy. There is
also the standalone BC Spreadsheet -- http://homepage.mac.com/gotterdamn/ --
and a few viewers listed at MacUpdate --
http://www.macupdate.com/search.php?os=Mac+OS+X&keywords=spreadsheet .
