[Macpartners] dos emulator, non-ms spreadsheet

1) i am trying to load a dos emulator from

and its gui configurator from:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25480

i am not having much success installing it though.  i am running 
macosX.3.9  does anyone have experience with this?

i am interested in running an old very efficient editor called xywrite 
that i have used for years, and would like to continue using on my mac.

2) is there a non-microsoft spreadsheet available for the mac, 
preferably some kind of freeware, that will read excel spreadsheets?
