Yes, I suggested using Kerberos for authentication in the context of  
using Mail on Mac OS X 10.3.9, since using SSL with Mail on 10.3.9 is  
broken and Kerberos authentication works.

It appears that Apple isn't going to release any additional fixes for  
10.3.9--we've asked many times. The answer for using Mail on Panther  
is to use 10.3.8. That means doing an archive and install of 10.3 and  
using the 10.3.8 combo installer. Yes, it takes some time to do, but  
Mail will work until the issues with Tiger are resolved.

Carolyn, it helps us a great deal if you can be specific about the  
operating system you're using, so that there's no confusion about  
what version you're having problems with.
