[Macpartners] Office Problems

hello,

I have a professor who was attempting to transfer files from one 
laptop to another using one of the little USB "memory sticks".  Files 
created with Word X or Powerpoint X on laptop1 will not open when 
copied to the laptop2 from the memory stick.  Both machines are 
running OSX.

I have had this experience myself and thought it was because my home 
computer is OS9 and my primary work machine is OSX.    I find that if 
I copy files from my little USB Apacer HandyDrive to my OS9 machine 
here in the office, the files are readable by office 98 or 01.

Does anyone out there know how to fix this?
