Dear colleagues,
The Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management is introducing a structured, annual process for Special Issue (SI) proposals. Effective immediately, the journal will no longer accept ad hoc SI proposals throughout the year and SI proposals will be considered only during the dedicated submission window below.
Submission window
- Proposal submission window: May 30th to July 15th, 2026.
- Decisions about the accepted proposals: July 31st, 2026.
- Submissions outside the window will not be considered.
Eligibility and evaluation criteria
Only proposals that meet all criteria below will be considered:
- Alignment with JPSM aims and scope: The SI must be clearly aligned with the journal’s aims, scope, and thematic priorities in purchasing and supply management.
- Distinctiveness from recent Special Issues: The proposal must not replicate SIs published recently. GE teams are expected to review the journal’s open and closed virtual SI volumes<https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/journal-of-purchasing-and-supply-management/special-issues> to ensure novelty and complementarity.
- Guest Editor team eligibility: At least one member of the Guest Editor (GE) team must have a demonstrated (1) track record of publishing PSM research, and (2) sustained engagement with JPSM operations, particularly through reviewing with the journal. If the GE team does not meet these requirements, the proposal cannot be accepted.
Proposals that do not meet these criteria will not be evaluated.
Proposal format and submission method
Submit a proposal of MAXIMUM 2 pages (excluding references). The proposal must include:
- Motivation and background for the SI.
- Relevance and expected contribution to the JPSM audience.
- Indicative themes (and, where helpful, illustrative topics).
- Expected timeline (from call launch to final decision) and any planned special sessions at relevant conferences.
- Short bios of the proposed GE team, demonstrating fit with the eligibility and evaluation criteria above.
Prospective GE teams should submit their SI proposal to both Editors-in-Chief (Andrea Patrucco: apatrucc at fiu.edu<mailto:apatrucc at fiu.edu>; Carmela DiMauro: carmela.dimauro at unict.it<mailto:carmela.dimauro at unict.it>) and the Editorial Assistant (Laharish Guntuka: lguntuka at saunders.rit.edu<mailto:lguntuka at saunders.rit.edu>).
We look forward to receiving your proposals!
Best regards
Andrea and Carmela (EICs, JPSM)
