Position Summary
The Department of Information Technology & Operations Management (ITOM) in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor or tenured/tenure-track associate professor faculty position in Business Analytics. The Department of Information Technology and Operations Management's mission is to develop competence in information systems, business analytics, supply chain and operations management and related decision-sciences disciplines for traditional and nontraditional students across the College of Business; to produce skilled individuals proficient in information technology who are able to contribute effectively to their organizations and communities in an ever-evolving technological environment; to engage in an active partnership with the business community; and to continually innovate and increase the quality of its educational and research activities in a manner that increases education effectiveness and global reach. The Department seeks to leverage FAU’s south Florida location, which is one of the country’s most dynamic areas of international trade and transportation.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution by the time of appointment in a field related to Business Analytics, such as Management Information Systems, Operations/Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related area from an accredited institution is required. Demonstrated ability to publish in high quality academic journals is also required, as is a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement. Candidates applying for the Assistant Professor position should possess an ongoing research program, preferably based on technical solutions, with the proven potential to excel in the area of business analytics. The ability to teach classes in business analytics and information technology is required, and the ability to teach supply chain management and analytics is a plus. Beyond a strong foundation in academic business analytics, the candidate should have demonstrable technical skills to implement business analytics solutions in areas such as algorithm development, machine learning, and/or big data analysis. In addition, applicants would ideally have strong research interests in any of the following: supply chain analytics, IoT, Industry 4.0, and the application of modern technologies in business environments. Industry experience in analytics and information technology is strongly desired.
