Position Announcement



The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is recruiting an open-rank Clinical Professor within the Graduate and Executive Education division of the Haslam College of Business.



The University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business invites applications for this open-rank Clinical Professor position with an emphasis in supply chain management (SCM), logistics, or a related field. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee seeks candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. This non-tenure track position will reside within the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management. The chosen candidate will have responsibility for developing coursework for an online Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MS-SCM) program and teaching courses in supply chain management and working collaboratively with the Graduate & Executive Education group to launch this new program.


This open-rank Clinical Professor will be an integral member of the team charged with developing a new online Master of Science in Supply Chain Management. This new MS-SCM program will join other graduate programs within the Haslam College of Business SCM portfolio, currently ranked #2 nationally by Gartner and #3 by US News and World Report.  S/he will report to the Department Head of the Marketing and Supply Chain Management department and work under the direction of the Director of the MS-SCM program.

S/he will have direct responsibility for developing 2-3 courses for this new online MS-SCM program, interfacing with an external online program management firm, and working closely with other faculty in support of program development. The successful candidate may also teach within the HCB Executive, Non-Degree, and/or Supply Chain undergraduate or graduate degree programs as determined by annual needs.



The effective dates of employment will be June 1, 2018, or when filled. Compensation will be nationally competitive.


Minimum Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree with an emphasis in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field from an accredited institution; qualification and experience to be appointed as an Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor; a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience within a business or relevant higher education context; a demonstrated record of high-quality and innovative teaching; a substantial level of familiarity with industry.


Desired Qualifications: Experience with institutions recognized for their expertise in SCM; knowledge of both the operational and strategic importance of supply chain in both research and applied settings; experience teaching multiple subjects within SCM; experience with online delivery.


Other highly desirable qualifications include a demonstrated ability to engage, inform, motivate and develop teams; the demonstrated ability to build connections with students and external university partners; an understanding of business school research and programming; experience in developing curricula; and the ability to work in a team-based, client-centered, fast-paced, and innovative setting.



Haslam College of Business and Graduate & Executive Education Background

The Haslam family provided a $50 million naming gift to the College of Business Administration in 2014. The Haslam College of Business is AACSB accredited, with over 130 faculty serving approximately 5,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Classes are taught in the state-of-the-art James A. Haslam II Business Building, which opened in 2009.


The Haslam College of Business offers executive MBA degrees, as well as open-enrollment and customized continuing education programs. Graduate and Executive Education (GEE) in the Haslam College of Business is an innovative, high growth unit offering executive programs for working professionals, a nationally recognized full-time MBA program and specialty master's programs focused on building excellence in key areas such as accounting, supply chain, and business analytics. Knoxville is located in east Tennessee, with a metro area of more than 500,000. It is near the Smoky Mountain National Park, Cherokee National Forest, and is known for outdoor activities and beautiful surroundings. Knoxville also enjoys a mild climate, an excellent downtown, very reasonable cost of living, and non-stop air service to seventeen cities nationwide. Knoxville is home to several large corporations and near the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
