The Supply Chain Management (SCM) area at the University of Rhode Island
seeks to hire a full-time lecturer with demonstrated knowledge in the field
of supply chain and/or operations management for the Spring of 2018 and
anticipated renewal. This is a one-year position with anticipated renewal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach introductory and/or graduate courses in Operations and Supply Chain
Management.
Teach and/or coordinate undergraduate and/or masters level courses
according to curricular needs of SCM.
Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students in obtaining Lean Six
Sigma Certification.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
1. Master’s or equivalent degree in the field of operations and/or supply
chain management, or a related discipline by January 1, 2018.
2. Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt Certification by January 1, 2018, with
completion of a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt Certification by January 1, 2019.
3. A minimum of five years’ of industry experience at the middle to upper
level management position in operations and/or supply chain management, or
related discipline by January 1, 2018.
4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
5. Demonstrated time management and organization skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
PREFERRED:
1. Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt Certification by January 1, 2018.
2. Demonstrated ability to engage with industry. Including but not limited
to: developing student opportunities for internships and job opportunities,
on-campus recruiting, guest lecturers, and class visits.
3. Prior experience in teaching a college-level course, and training and
mentoring individuals for Lean/Six Sigma Certification.
4. Demonstrated ability to engage with students for recruitment and service
activities. Activities include but are not limited to: participating in
graduation commencements, encouraging students to pursue Supply Chain
Management as a major and supporting activities outside of class that
enhance the growth of the program and the College of Business.
