The University of North Texas is seeking applications for three positions at the associate and full professor ranks:

Senior Researcher in Logistics

The University of North Texas (UNT) has embarked on a major, multi-year initiative to hire new faculty and to make significant infrastructure changes to enhance and expand research. UNT is seeking to fill multiple faculty positions, largely at the senior level, to build upon new and existing cross-disciplinary research clusters in strategically selected areas (http://research.unt.edu/clusters). New faculty members will have significant opportunities to shape future research and the collaborative efforts occurring between the research clusters.

One of the areas designated as a research cluster is logistics and supply chain management. The Complex Logistics Systems research cluster focuses on transforming public-private logistics through the research and development of affordable, resilient and sustainable solutions for large-scale logistics networks spanning the supply chain. The cluster consists of a multi-disciplinary set of researchers across four colleges including seven currently in the logistics discipline.

In this context, UNT seeks an outstanding scholar for a faculty position in the areas of logistics, transportation, or supply chain management. This position is at the Professor rank, but exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor rank will also be considered. We particularly seek candidates with a distinguished record of extramural funding and research accomplishments who complement the existing strengths of the faculty in the Complex Logistics Systems research cluster (http://logisticsresearch.unt.edu).

The faculty member selected for this position will be responsible for seeking extramural funding to conduct interdisciplinary research focused in logistics with faculty in the College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Public Administration and Community Service, and College of Arts and Sciences. Based on expertise and academic discipline, the selected faculty member will have an academic appointment within a department in the College of Business but may have a joint appointment in several departments or Colleges.

The position requires an earned doctorate in logistics, operations management, operations research, or closely related business discipline. An established record of scholarship and excellent publication record, commensurate with academic rank, are also required as is a record of mentoring graduate students and of teaching excellence.

Preference will be given to candidates with: a proven record of securing and managing grant research; the ability to conduct and lead multidisciplinary research and convert externally funded research into academic publications in the fields of logistics, transportation, and supply chain management; and a record of building and sustaining a research team.

All applicants must apply on-line at http://facultyjobs.unt.edu. Applicants must provide the following with their online application: cover letter, curriculum vitae, and a list of three references (reference letters will be required at a later time). Review of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the search is closed. Appointments could begin as early as January 2012. For further inquiries, please contact Dr. Terrance Pohlen at terrance.pohlen at unt.edu<mailto:terrance.pohlen at unt.edu>.
