Tenure-Track Positions: Supply Chain Management

Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems (SC&IS)

                                                                                                                      Smeal College of Business

The Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA) invites applications for one or more tenure-track positions in Supply Chain Management, available in August 2011. The primary selection criteria are outstanding research potential, excellent teaching capabilities, and strong recommendations. Applicants should have a doctorate (granted or nearly completed), a thorough knowledge of supply chain theories, principles, and practices, and a commitment to high quality research. The search priorities are as follows:

Logistics/Supply Chain Management
There is a strong preference for candidates with an established research stream and teaching interest in logistics in the context of supply chain management. Candidates that utilize empirical research methods and an interdisciplinary focus are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching strengths should be directed toward all levels, which include B.S., M.B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs. Faculty rank is open depending on qualifications.

Business Analytics/Supply Chain Management
The ideal candidate will have an established research stream in areas such as data mining, web and business process analytics, network science, supply chain analytics, and other areas of business intelligence and analytics. A strong teaching interest in areas such as data management and analytics, business intelligence architecture and strategy, knowledge management, and enterprise system analytics is also a priority. Teaching strengths should be directed toward all levels, which include B.S., M.B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs. Faculty rank is open depending on qualifications.

Department representatives will attend the CSCMP meeting in San Diego, CA, September 26-29; the INFORMS meeting in Austin, TX  November 7-10; and the Decision Sciences Institute meeting in San Diego, November 20-23. We plan to conduct preliminary interviews with a limited number of candidates. Applicants who wish to be considered for preliminary interviews should email a copy of their CV, a brief summary of research, and the title, date, and time of any presentations before September 15 for CSCMP and October 15 for INFORMS and DSI. Applicants sending in a complete application before this date only need to email the presentation information. Applicants who are not involved with the preliminary interviews will still be considered for the position opening.
