CLARIFICATION FOR CALL FOR PAPERS: This call for papers is primarily for manuscripts discussing qualitative methodology, not simply for papers utilizing qualitative methods

International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management invites submissions to a special issue on Qualitative research in logistics and supply chain management.

Qualitative research in logistics and supply chain management is still not prominent in the academic literature and is still not considered sufficiently rigorous by many people. Also qualitative data are – despite their so-called “soft” nature – quite hard to analyze, and it is often difficult to communicate the results in a meaningful way that
captures both the richness of such studies and the issues of general interest. A stronger focus on how to design and administer qualitative studies, when to use them and for what purposes, and how to analyze and communicate them, will be of great value and importance to the field.

The Guest Editors invite papers that investigate and reflect, and perhaps theorize, on the creation of qualitative research in logistics and supply chain management studies. In particular, they encourage research that builds on the author's own experience with qualitative research and demonstrates how it broadened the scope of logistics and
SCM knowledge. And, finally, the Guest Editors encourage papers that connect qualitative research methodology to the theory and philosophy of science.
