         Assistant or Associate Professor, Marketing and Logistics
                     Sam M. Walton College of Business
                           University of Arkansas
Position

The Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas,
Fayetteville anticipates a tenure-track assistant or associate professor
position in logistics or supply chain management beginning in the fall of 2007.
 Applicants must have their Ph.D. by the beginning of the appointment and begun
to establish a record of excellence in research and teaching.

Department and College

The Marketing and Logistics Department has six endowed faculty positions as well
as a general endowment for the department.  The department has fourteen fulltime
faculty and offers bachelors degrees in marketing and transportation/logistics. 
The department awards more bachelors degree than any other department at the
University of Arkansas.  The department is actively involved in the fulltime
and managerial MBA programs where an emphasis can be pursued in either
retailing or supply chain management.  The department supports a doctoral
program with eight students typically on campus.

The Walton College has about 3,500 students (3,200 undergraduate and 300
graduate students) and is ranked #24 among public four-year institutions
according to the most recent U.S. News and World report ranking of
undergraduate business programs. The Walton College has several specialized
centers including the Information Technology Research Institute, Center for
Retail Excellence, Supply Chain Management Research Center, and RFID Research
Center.

University and Community

The University of Arkansas (18,000 students) is the "flagship" in the University
of Arkansas System and is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas (population of
70,000 within a MSA of 391,000).  Northwest Arkansas is home to Wal-Mart
Stores, Inc., JB Hunt Transport, Inc., and Tyson Foods, Inc.  Many Fortune 500
companies have offices in the area.  The Northwest Arkansas area
(Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, AR) was ranked #8 on the 2005 Milken Institute
Best Performing Cities Index (2006), a measure of where jobs are being created. 
Fayetteville has also been listed as one of the "Dazzling Dozen" (Business
Weekly), "one of America's hottest cities" (Expansion Management), "Best Place
to Live Today" (Money Magazine), and "Fastest Growing Cities in America" (Inc.
Magazine).
