In Memoriam: Jean-Marc Philippe
We are saddened to announce the passing of Jean-Marc Philippe, who  
died November 12, 2008. Philippe was a Parisian artist and research  
engineer who received the 1987 Leonardo New Horizons for Innovation  
Award for his shape-memory alloy sculptures. His most recent project  
KEO, a satellite designed to stay in orbit for 50,000 years  
containing messages from inhabitants of Earth, continues to be

The Leonardo Education Forum (LEF) will participate in the upcoming  
College Art Association Conference, Feb. 25-28, 2009, in Los Angeles,  
CA. LEF-sponsored events include a business meeting, the special

Education in a Global Context" and a special visit to the UCLA Art|

We are pleased to announce a forthcoming special issue of Leonardo,  
presented in collaboration with SIGGRAPH 2009. The 2009 issue will  
feature SIGGRAPH 2009 Art Papers and the SIGGRAPH 2009 Juried Art

Transactions is a section in the print journal Leonardo that  
publishes fully refereed papers on a fast track to disseminating key  
new results, ideas and developments in practice. Transactions now  
offers Research Announcements, a service that electronically

under review, enabling very fast announcements of new research  
results and artworks even before the normal peer review process has
