Lebanon is a country caught in the crosshairs of the politics of the Middle
East. Between East and West, it serves as a microcosm for many ongoing
regional tensions. On November 23rd,, 2007 the term of President Emile
Lahoud came to an end, but due to political differences, the parliament has
been unable to elect a successor, leaving the country without a Head of
State. As the crisis continues, there are ever more frequent street clashes;
targeted violence against politicians and public figures remains a threat.
What does the future hold? How can Lebanon escape from this latest round of
uncertainty? Come hear two of the region's most incisive thinkers, and join
us for what is sure to be a lively discussion. Refreshments will be
provided. For more information, please contact Taufiq Rahim
(taufiq_rahim at ksg08.harvard.edu).
