Assalamu Alaikum,
The MIT List Center has put a lot of effort to get this presentation on campus and I'd really encourage everyone to support it by attending the opening reception and the workshop. This exhibition, in it's approach, is similar to the Palestine Art Exhibit that we had last year. It's a creative and peaceful means for Palestinian cultural and political awareness and it has the potential to be a very impactful presentation.
Again, I do hope that our Muslim and Arab communities show support for such an event by taking some time to attend.
-Ibrahim

Nabila Irshaid: Flying Carpet
The MIT List Visual Arts Center (LVAC) is pleased to present Nabila Irshaid: Flying Carpet from February 8 through April 8, 2007. This work, an interactive installation project allows users to communicate with visitors at the Bethlehem Peace Center and Art School on the West Bank through the use of web cams and chat postings. The goal of Irshaid's project is to create a sense of mutual understanding among people of different cultural and geographic backgrounds by creating a virtual bridge transcending time, distance, and geography. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to learn more about themselves through cross-cultural communication with others.
Come and join artist Nabila Irshaid as she leads a workshop for those interested in learning more about using the installation to communicate with participants at the Bethlehem Peace Center on Wednesday, February 7, 6-8. This workshop can accommodate up to 25 participants and will take place at the Bakalar Gallery at the List Visual Arts Center. Registration for the workshop is required. There is no fee to participate. To register for the workshop or for further information about these upcoming programs contact: Mark Linga at the List Visual Arts Center, E15-109, 617.452.3586, mlinga at mit.edu
In addition to the workshop you are invited to the following public programs:
Opening reception: Thursday, February 8, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Artist talk with Nabila Irshaid: Saturday, February 10, 2:00 p.m.
All related programs are free and open to the public. The MIT List Visual Arts Center is located in the Wiesner Building, 20 Ames St., at the eastern edge of the MIT campus.
