Dear ALES colleagues and friends,

Please join us at ALES' Rebuild-Lebanon Dinner & Presentation on Tuesday
December 12 at 6:30PM at Sabra Restaurant on 45 Union Street in Newton MA [
Phone: 617.964.9275].

A talk, titled Challenges and Opportunities after the July 2006 War:
Rebuilding the Roads and Bridges of Lebanon, will be presented by two
engineers from ALES, outlining the challenges and opportunities for
rebuilding Lebanon's destroyed infrastructure, in particular the roads and
bridges, after the July 2006 war.

The speakers are:

Mr. Nabil Hourani, PE; Head of the Geotechnical Section at the Massachusetts
Highway Department

Mr. Charles Sacre, PE; Principal Engineer at S.E.A. Consultants

The presentation will address a number of issues and questions, mainly:

What really happened to the many bridges and roadways that were affected?

How is the infrastructure now, and how was it developed in the previous
decade?

Is there hope in the early recovery work, and what is the preliminary
assessment?

Is there a plan for the future for funding, designing, bidding, and
rebuilding the bridges?

How do we get the generous donors to give more?

Accountability, leadership, and dedication... How would it advance the
reconstruction?

The registration fee is $20 for members and $30 for non-members, and it
includes a Lebanese dinner.

Please RSVP at ales at alesonline.org or 617.435.8687 at your earliest
convenience.

We look forward to seeing you at this event.

Best Regards,

Camil Jreige
