Dr. Jack G. Shaheen is an internationally acclaimed author, media critic and a
committed internationalist and devoted humanist. A former CBS news consultant
on Middle East Affairs, Shaheens lectures and writings illustrate that racial
and ethnic stereotypes injure innocent people. Dr. Shaheen is the author of
four books including the award-winning Reel Bad Arabs: How Hollywood Vilifies a
People. He has appeared on national network programs such as CNN, MSNBC, NPR,
Nightline, Good Morning America, 48 Hours, and the Today Show. Dr. Shaheen
serves as a consultant with film and TV companies: DreamWorks, Warner Brothers,
Hanna-Barbera, and Showtime.
Damaging media stereotypes do not exist in a vacuum. Continuously repeated,
they denigrate peoples, narrow our vision and distort reality.
