You're definitely not using 1.3.1 then. That error code roughbly
means you need to use TCP and 1.3.1 knows the text for the error code.
(It also knows how to do TCP so it won't give you the error in the
first place).
Are you sure you're not using /usr/bin/kinit instead of the one you
built?
