Unify Unix and NT accounts with kerberos

Try using "Winbind" and "pam_winbind" on the UNIX hosts
to authenticate against an NT domain.  They are both
part of the Samba project.

Samba servers can also act as authentication servers in
an Active Directory environment, or PDC in an NTLM setup.

It also really depends on how much AD you really need.

If all you need is to provide authentication, file and
print servers, then Samba with Winbind can absolutely
create a unified environment.  If you need any of the
real heavy lifting AD provides you currently need an
MS AD server.
