Dear Friend of the Climate Museum,
We’re excited to announce that we’re hiring two full-time Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellows in the Humanities! This opportunity enables scholars to incorporate their expertise into cultural programs exploring the deep interconnections between the climate and inequality crises and implementing new approaches to public engagement and civic activism.
These fellowships in climate and inequality are made possible by a generous grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The fellowships and other initiatives supported by the Mellon grant will allow the Museum to continue to refine its methods in the interdisciplinary climate humanities and deepen its content at the intersection of climate and inequality–all with the goal of welcoming new audiences into this essential conversation and laying ground for dialogue and action toward a just future.
The fellowships also reinforce the Museum’s commitment to deepening existing relationships with New York City area colleges and universities and establishing new collaborations.
The Mellon Fellows will be part of the leadership team responsible for the creation of fall public programming connected to the Museum’s 2022 exhibition on climate and inequality at Governors Island this summer and fall. In addition, they will integrate a climate humanities and justice framework throughout the development and implementation of further exhibitions in 2023 and 2024, as well as the Museum’s arts interventions, lectures, panels, and workshops.
Please help us spread the word to scholars who may be interested in joining our team; meeting the rising public demand for cultural pathways into climate engagement and action; and bringing their insight, creativity, and scholarship to a broader public!
