Dear all,

While this job listing asks for an "environmental scientist whose work intersects with the social science and the humanities," knowing a bit about Gallatin, they will likely be receptive to applications from social scientists or humanists whose work intersects with the environmental sciences. Worth a look for anyone interested in hanging out in NYC for a year or two!

Evan

Dear All,

The Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Science whose work intersects with the social sciences and humanities, for instance with economics, anthropology, or literature. Potential candidates' work may focus on the intersections of environment, technology, urbanism, and politics in the Global South; the human impact on ecosystems and the natural world; the ecological impacts of warfare or industry; the influence of nature on social, economic and cultural development; the cultural and political contexts of climate science. This is a one-year appointment beginning on September 1, 2018 that is potentially renewable for another year. The teaching load for this position is four courses per year (two in the fall and two in the spring). In addition, the position involves serving as an adviser for 5-7 undergraduate students.
