Please find enclosed a copy of an announcement of a full-time one-year
postdoctoral fellowship position in the Department of History at the
University of Nevada, Reno. The position is in the Early Modern European
History of Medicine. I would appreciate it if you would post the enclosed
announcement and make this information available to graduate students or
other scholars who might be interested in applying.

The Department of History at UNR currently has fifteen full-time tenured or
tenure-track faculty members and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees
(M.A., M.A. in Teaching History, and Ph.D.) in a variety of fields,
including European, Asian, Latin American, and African history as well as
U.S. history. We are particularly strong in social, intellectual, and
cultural history and seek a colleague whose research and teaching interests
will enhance our offerings in these areas.

The University of Nevada, Reno is a top caliber, land-grant research
university with 17,000 students and 1,000 faculty. It offers a comprehensive
selection of degree programs in fields ranging from the liberal arts to
health sciences. Our beautiful campus is nestled beneath the Sierra Nevada
mountain range on the border between Nevada and California. The city of Reno

The History Department at the University of Nevada, Reno, invites
applications for a full-time one-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Early
Modern European History, beginning in the fall of 2012. 

 

Qualifications: candidates must have a PhD in the History of early modern
Europe with specialization in the history of science. A focus on natural
history and/or the history of medicine is preferred. Candidates should have
completed the PhD by June 15, 2012. 

 

Principal responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester,
advising senior theses, and working with graduate students as needed.
Courses include upper-division period sequence, survey courses, other
courses in areas of interest, and participation in university-wide Core
Humanities course. 

 

Deadline for application is May 31st, 2012. For fullest consideration,
applicants should submit online a letter of application, current curriculum
vitae, along with a brief statement of research and plans at:
