[Gsc-oc-firstyear] Orientation Events for Thursday, Sept. 9

GSC Orientation gsc-oc at MIT.EDU
Thu Sep 9 11:55:19 EDT 2004

Hello again.
Everyone at the General Council Meeting heard all about the GSC and how it
works, and enjoyed some pizza and wraps as well. Quite a few of you stuck
around for the Weekly Wednesday event at the Muddy Charles pub, and
continued the festivities well into the night. Today, there are another
couple of exciting events.

Thursday, September 9
5pm - 6:30pm Grad School 101 (3/4) [Room 4-270] (Come enjoy the third
lecture in this series of talks. Food will be provided)
6:30pm - 9pm Minority Welcome Reception [McCormick Hall, Brown Room]
(Come meet and greet with faculty members and continuing graduate students,
enjoy some refreshment, and listen to a spoken word artist)
7pm - 9pm International Student Mentorship Dinner [Lobdell] (Please
note that the International Student Mentorship Dinner is meant for Mentors
and Mentees already registered in the mentorship program)

Also, a student lost a camera on Sunday's Harbor Cruise. The camera is a
CANON POWERSHOT S200 DIGITAL ELPH CAMERA. If you have any information about
this,
please email gsc-oc at mit.edu. Please help us to return the camera to its
owner. Thanks.

We are having a second Night Out on the Town this Friday, Sept. 10. We will
be going to Club Avalon, which is actually 5 different clubs connected
together! This means plenty of variety in music styles! RSVP to
nite at mit.edu, and you will receive a discounted entrance fee ($10).

Also, Many of you have expressed interest in getting involved with GSC.
There are a number of ways to do this - and whatever your interests or time
commitments may be, there is a place for you to participate. We'd like to
highlight one really great way to get involved which is to become a
representative for your department or living group - you'll be able to stay
informed of everything that's going on, participate in whatever interests
you, and interact with new people where you live or work.
Find out more at: http://gsc.mit.edu/representative/
If you're interested in becoming involved through one of GSC's committees
or in one of many other ways, send an email to the GSC Officers :
gsc-officers at mit.edu and let us know!

See you later!
