Dear fellow off-campus residents,
This is a short announcement about the upcoming MIT/WHOI event that is
happening this weekend. GSC Off-campus bought 15 tickets to this event for
you all. Details are below.
Kelsey and I are going to change the sign-up process a little. You will
RSVP as usual at the link below, and after 24-48 hours when the reservation
list fills up we will randomly draw names from the RSVP list to fill up the
invite list. There will not be a preference or penalty for students with
spouses/significant others or children, so RSVP as usual but *you are not
confirmed until you get an e-mail from Kelsey or me*. This is a response to
feedback that the lists fill up too fast.
For the past few events, we have had a string of last-minute cancellations.
I understand that things come up, but it's difficult to organize (and
pre-pay) for events when attendance is not certain. Please tell us as soon
as possible if you can't make it so we can find people from the waiting
list.
Finally: I am trying to plan a babysitting night where GSC Off-campus would
pay for ~4 hours of babysitting for children so off-campus parents could
have a night out. In exchange we'd also be interested in informal feedback
about housing and community affairs issues facing off-campus grad students
with families. If such an event would interest you, let me know (
kcedrone at mit.edu).
We'll have another round of events ready soon. As always, if you have any
suggestions for events or concerns about living off-campus please let me
know!
Your off-campus subcommittee chairs,
Kevin Cedrone and Kelsey Stoerzinger
