Dear fellow off-campus grad students,
We have a few events to tell you about, sponsored both by us and other MIT groups. Keeps your eyes out for another announcement of events near the end of the month. Let us know if you have any concerns regarding off-campus living, or suggestions to further build up the community. Note that if you volunteer to organize an event, you're guaranteed a spot on the list :)

1. Off-campus lunch at Life Alive (vegetarian cafe in Central Square)
When: Saturday, August 18th, 1:00pm
Where: 765 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA
Why: Socialize with fellow off-campus students, discuss off-campus community and safety issues, plan future events.Details: Off-campus will cover up to $15/person. Spouses and significant others welcome with notice to Kelsey (kastoerz at mit.edu<mailto:kastoerz at mit.edu>)

2. Columbus Day Deluxe Harbor Cruise
If you are not interested in having a fancy harbor cruise, nor marvelous cuisine, nor a spectacular performance given by talented students, you can stop reading the rest of the email now.
Otherwise, we are pleased to announce that we are planning a deluxe harbor cruise on Columbus Day weekend!! The cruise will be on Spirit of Boston, the superb vessel you can ever find in Boston; you will have a fine lunch buffet on the boat, with unlimited juice and soda (alcohol on costumers own expenses); most of all, you will also enjoy splendid performances given by students with talents! With all these enjoyments, you will only pay $45 for a preferred MIT students discounted ticket!
Yes, $45 for a 2-hours harbor cruise on a fancy vessel, a delicious lunch buffet and a splendid performance, ALL INCLUSIVE!! Do You Come?
What: A Deluxe Harbor Cruise hosted by CSSA
When: Oct 6, Saturday, boarding time 11:30am, cruise time 12pm to 2pm
Where: boarding at World trade Center
* A deluxe harbor cruise on a superb vessel Spirit of Boston
* A fine lunch buffet with unlimited juice and soda
* A splendid performance given by talented students
* $45 for MIT students, $55 for guests or non-mit students

3. Thirsty Ear Orientation BBQ
When: Sunday August 26, 5-7:30 pm
Where: Ashdown Courtyard (NW35)
- Kick off orientation with the Thirsty Ear BBQ!
- Join us for great food, music, lawn games, and friends old and new!
- Enjoy fresh off the grill burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and more!
- The event is open to all MIT community including spouses, partners & children. Alcohol available for purchase in the Pub for those 21+ w/ govt photo ID.
- Sponsored by the Large Event Fund, the GSC Orientation Committee, and the MIT Alumni Association. Hosted by the Thirsty Ear Executive Committee (TEEC).
