1. This Sunday, October 21, as part of the joint Ashdown-Sidney Pacific
Brunch Series, Ashdown will be hosting a brunch at 11 am in the Hulsizer
Room.  There will be eggs, sausages, pancakes, bagels, cereal, fruit, and
muffins.  All graduate students are welcome.  Please bring your own plates,
utensils, etc., if you can.

2. With the semester well under way it is time to enjoy the fall as the
seasons turn.  If you have nothing planned as of this moment, let me inform
you that there is a visit planned for Salem this coming Sunday, October
21st.  It is the time of year where this town acquires much attraction, and
GSC and Ashdown are making it affordable at $5 a person.  If you are
interested in seeing Salem and the Peabody Essex Museum located there,
please email your interest to ashdown-cultural at mit.edu.  Space is limited.

The plan is to meet on Sunday at 11:00am in Ashdown, from there we will take
the T and the commuter rail to Salem and visit the Peabody Essex Museum.  I
anticipate the return time to be around 4:30pm

3. WORLD SERIES GAME NIGHT

Location: Ashdown House, Wed, Oct 24, 8pm
BIG screen
FREE FOOD
Drinks by Thirsty Ear

Come watch the opening game of the WORLD SERIES baseball this Saturday on a
big screen, and get FREE FOOD!  Drinks are served by  
Thirsty Ear Pub.  This event is open to the entire MIT community.

4. Masquerade Ball

Date: Friday, Oct. 26
Time: 9pm - 1am
Venue: Sidney Pacific NW86 Multi-Purpose Room

You are formally invited to attend the dance of the semester. Come join your
fellow students for a ball filled with mystery, intrigue, and Venetian fun.
First 300 guests will be provided masks but everyone is encouraged to bring
their own. Ballroom dance instruction will be provided at the beginning of
the dance. Finger food, desserts, and soft beverages will be provided and a
cash bar will be present. 18+ to enter, 21+ for alcohol. Will you be able to
see the person behind the mask?

5. Harvard GSD Halloween Party
Friday October 26
8pm-1am

On behalf of the Harvard Graduate School of Design, I would like to invite
you to our annual Halloween Party. This is our biggest and best event in the
Fall and is a great opportunity for us to meet people outside our school AND
dance the night away (yes we are skillful at multi-tasking!) Therefore, I
would love to invite graduate students from schools in the area in all
concentrations to come and join us for this event!

So put get costumed up and come on by! This year it will be held at the
Sheraton Commander Hotel right here in Cambridge - 16 Garden Street on
Friday October 26th. The festivities will go from 8pm-1am. Tickets include
two (2) drinks -
