Hi all,

We hope you all had a relaxing break. Please enjoy this special edition of the GSC DEI Newsletter with our events for this week!

GSC DEI x SAS x RISE Town Hall on

Preventing & Responding to Misconduct

When: Thursday, December 3, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Where: https://mit.zoom.us/j/99871745802

RSVP: https://forms.gle/7AYrKrHHekTuaHHVA

Join the GSC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, MIT Student Advocates for Survivors (SAS), and the Reject Injustice through Student Empowerment (RISE) Campaign for an open discussion on reforming the policies around prevention and response to misconduct. These reforms are part of Demand 3 of the RISE Campaign<https://www.rise4mit.com/demands-section-3>. Any MIT student is welcome to join!

We'll first hear moving testimonials from survivors in the MIT community, followed by updates from RISE and SAS on advocacy efforts. We'll finish with breakout group discussions on how we move forward. We are looking to hear from all perspectives as part of the discussion.

Invite your friends and colleagues, and we hope to see you there!

Continuing on:

· Connect your department with the RISE Coalition<https://www.rise4mit.com/> and discuss strategic reforms across MIT

· For more updates from GSC DEI, subscribe at: http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/gsc-diversity-all

Our next conduit bi-weekly meeting is this Friday (12/4) from 1-2 pm (zoom link<https://mit.zoom.us/j/97691330755>). These meetings are open to any student and are an opportunity to chat about DEI initiatives going on in your department and to learn about what is happening in others. (Feel free to come late or leave early--whatever works for your schedule!).

This Friday, we will discuss the graduate admissions process. If your department has grad students on the admissions committee, are looking into adding grad students on the committee, or are curious about this process, please join in on this week's meeting! We hope to cover any obstacles, challenges, and lessons learned regarding the incorporation of students on graduate admissions committees (or about the grad admissions process in general).

Feel free to invite anyone that will be interested in learning or discussing this topic!

See everyone on Friday!
