   Challenge teams! A record 45 MIT student-led teams entered their 
   innovative public service ideas addressing underserved needs in water, 
   sanitation, agriculture, education and much more. Many undergraduate 
   and graduate students have been hard at work for the last eight months to 
   enter this year.
- Meet the teams. Celebrate their work. Learn which teams will win part of the 
   up to $150,000 in awards this year. We’ll be joined by President Susan 
   Hockfield, our keynote speaker Dr. Akhtar Badshah (MIT Alum) and other

- Angel Deradoorian, a member of the band The Dirty Projectors, is
   performing on friday here on campus (the day after her debut release).
- MIT's own Levi Schmidt will open for her.

- Join Subrata Ghoshroy for lunch and an informal discussion about 
   science policy. 
- Dr. Ghoshroy is a research associate with the MIT Science, Technology 
   and Global Security Working Group. He will be speaking about his current 
   work on U.S. Defense R&D policy and the dependence of universities on 
   the Pentagon. Dr. Ghoshroy will also discuss his extensive experience, 
   from engineering to a AAAS fellowship, and from the House Armed 
   Services Committee to the Government Accountability Office.

-Science and engineering students, work on your science writing to
   communicate your work to a broader audience!
-Professor Tom Levenson, Director of MIT's renowned Graduate Program
   in Science Writing, will lead a Science Writing Workshop.
-Participants will compose an original brief summary article on a
   scientific topic intended for a lay audience.
-The group will analyze the articles and attendees will learn to
   convey scientific information in a clear and engaging manner.

   for coordinators for its various initiatives.

   and well-defined guidance.

- The Sloan Healthcare Club is looking for a webmaster. Apply by May 6th.
- We are an active and dynamic club for students interested in the 
   intersection of business and healthcare. We are looking for a Webmaster 
   to update and maintain our website to serve as the face of our club to the 
   outside community. Additionally, this position would be a great way for a 
   student to serve as a liason between MIT Sloan and the rest of the campus.

15 What:     32 Hour Basic Mediation Skills Training
15 When:    June 8-22, 2011

- This workshop develops mediation skills and teaches a structured conflict 
   resolution process. The workshop includes lecture, exercises and roleplays 
   with a heavy emphasis on exercises, role plays and structured debriefings. 
   The best way to develop expertise is through practice and reflection.
- Most people who take the training find their views on conflict resolution are 
   permanently changed and their interpersonal communication style much 
   improved. Many find they use their mediating skills almost daily, in the dorm, 
   in student groups, in the office, or just interacting with other people in everyday 
   life.
- At the conclusion of the workshop all participants who have attended a minimum 
   of 30 hours will receive a certificate of completion of the Basic Mediation Skills 
   Workshop.
