- Only MIT graduate students may purchase dinner tickets. Each student may buy one guest ticket.
Guest tickets also cost $2 and must be purchased with the student's ticket. There is no physical
ticket; there will be a guest list at the event and you will check in there.
- Dinner tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are non-transferable.

5 What: MIT150 Symposium - Earth, Air, Ocean, and Space: The Future of Exploration

- This symposium on exploration will discuss key questions for humans who embark on journeys of
exploration where there is remarkable potential for discovery. When it comes to exploring earth, air,
ocean and space, MIT’s contributions have shaped the 20th century. Great inventors and explorers
such as MIT’s own Doolittle, Draper, and Edgerton contributed breakthrough technologies and
instrumentation along with personal exploration and piloting feats. These inventors, engineers,
scientists, and artists literally put us on the moon and let us ‘see the unseen’.

6 What: MIT150 Symposium - Brains, Minds, and Machines
6 When: May 3rd, 4th and 5th, 2011

- The Brains, Minds, and Machines events will run over three days, with panel talks involving
personalities from academia and industry. The symposium will start with a keynote panel discussing
the “Golden Age”, the original roots of Artificial Intelligence, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, and
Linguistics. It will continue with a series of panels spanning several areas of intelligence research—
Vision, Language, Action and Navigation, and Social Cognition—discussing the role of "nature and
nurture" in the development of intelligence and the interaction between the problems of consciousness
and intelligence. The second of the program will close with a keynote panel discussion: “I2: why is it
time to try again?” focused on future efforts to integrate neuroscience, cognitive science, and computer
science in a new attempt toward understanding and replicating the mind. The last panel of the
symposium "The Marketplace for Intelligence" will provide a glimpse of the marketplace for the
science and engineering of intelligence.

- The MIT Clean Energy Prize is excited to announce the MIT Clean Energy Showcase.
- The Energy Innovation Showcase will include poster presentations from the MIT Clean Energy Prize
top 25 semi-finalists, MIT Clean Energy Prize alumni teams, and other successful energy start-ups in
the area.
- Following the Energy Innovation Showcase, the MIT Enterprise Forum, in collaboration with the Clean
Energy Prize, will present “The Future of Clean Energy Innovation: Green Jobs”, featuring a keynote
from Jeff Immelt, Chairman and CEO of GE.

15 What: Graduate Student Teaching Certificate - Intensive Summer Program

- The Graduate Student Teaching Certificate Program will be offered for the first time this summer
in an intensive two-week format. Sessions run from May 25-June 6, 2011. MIT graduate
students who wish to develop their teaching skills are invited to participate. The program is
designed for students with a variety of interests and career goals: from those who wish to develop
better skills to support their teaching at MIT, to those who are planning careers in academe.
- To earn a certificate, students must attend seven teaching workshops, complete daily reading and
writing assignments, and be video recorded in a teaching session. Registration for this program is
required, and sessions must be completed this summer.
- Registration opens on the program website at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18th. If you have
