2 What: Grad Gala 2011: Black & White
2 When: Saturday, April 2, 8:00 PM-1:30 AM

- Ticket sales are open at https://gsc.mit.edu/gradgala/
- The Gala will feature a sparking wine pouring followed by an exquisite
three-course dinner, featuring live entertainment by the Beantown
Swing Orchestra, and dancing throughout the evening.
- Only MIT graduate students may purchase tickets. Each student may
buy one guest ticket.
- Students may also purchase full tables of eight tickets. Subsidized
drink tickets and return shuttle tickets are also available.
- Dinner tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are
transferable only after the event becomes sold out.
- There will be no refunds if you cancel and/or do not show up.

3 What: GSC Athletic and Performance Activities Grant Spring 2011

- Supports graduate students who pursue a non-research/non-academic
activity at competitive levels.
- The grant is designed to support MIT graduate students who take part in
competitions/concerts/events throughout the year.
- The grant can cover fees and expenses such as registration,
accommodation, travel (air, car rental, gas, tolls, parking, public
transportation) and equipment shipment if needed.
- PLEASE NOTE: Members of a team travelling to the same activities MUST
have the same budget.

Professor of Engineering Systems and Aeronautics and Astronautics at
MIT, for a discussion about science policy. There will be a brief talk
followed by lunch and informal discussion with Dean Hastings and
graduate students involved in the MIT Science Policy Initiative (SPI).

- SPI is a student group involved in outreach and advocacy efforts
related to science policy.

9 What: $200,000 MIT Clean Energy Prize
9 When: Friday, February 25: 1st Round Submission Deadline

9 Who: All students at US universities
- The MIT Clean Energy Prize is an educational platform for innovation,
entrepreneurship and new venture creation in the clean energy space.
- Co-sponsored by NSTAR and the U.S. Department of Energy, the Grand
Prize of $200,000 aims to catalyze a new generation of clean energy
solutions.
- 5 categories: Energy Efficiency & Infrastructure, Renewables, Non-
Renewables, Transportation, and Deployment.
- Each category winner will also win $15,000.
- Semifinalists will benefit from one-on-one mentorship from experienced
industry leaders and entrepreneurs, will expand their network, and will
connect with potential funders and customers via the high-press
coverage of the event.
- 1st round submission deadline is Friday, February 25.
