   at the airport to helping with some of MIT's biggest graduate events and parties!

-  Volunteers get to share in the experience of their individual events and welcome new 
   graduate students to life at MIT. They are also honored at an appreciation dinner in 
   October and will receive a special edition t-shirt featuring the 2010 beaver-seal logo 
   to wear during orientation and beyond.

2 When:    Planning will take place Aug - Nov.  The actual event will be Nov 8-10, 2010.

- We need volunteers to help with planning and leading events! Join the team by e-mailing 
  Clarissa at ccl at mit.edu!
- Planning committee members will be guaranteed a spot at all of the events, some of which have 
  limited space available.
- Help shape the first-ever GWAMIT Leadership Conference and set an example for years to come!
- GWAMIT Leadership Conference tentative events:
	o Keynote by Dr. Sophie Vandebroek, CTO of Xerox, with opening remarks by MIT 
           President Susan Hockfield.
	o Negotiation seminar given by Dr. Deborah Kolb, an expert on gender issues in 
           negotiation and leadership.
	o Assertive communication workshop led by the dynamic Prof. Roberta Pittore, M.B.A.
	o Personal leadership evaluation workshop led by the MIT LEGS program.

3 What:       New Coping Skills Group for Grad Students
3 When:      Tuesdays 3:30-5 starting mid-Sept running 8 weeks

- Increasing awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviors
- Learning to tolerate and manage emotions effectively
- Improving selfl-acceptance/self-respect
- Replacing ineffective, maladaptive behaviors with skillful responses
