What: Academic Career Series: "Academia, Industry, or Both?"
When: Tuesday July 21, 4-5:30pm
Where: Room 6-120
Contact: Ulric Ferner, and Clarice Aiello, gsc-arc at mit.edu
Do you wonder about the merits of working in academia versus industry?
The academic career series is a set of seminars held by the GSC aimed
at all MIT students who are interested in an academic career.
The first seminar, "Academia, Industry, or Both?" will hold a panel
discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of academic jobs,
versus careers in industry, and the ability to work in both fields.
The panel will be made up of scientists and engineers who each have
extensive experience both in academia and in industry; all graduate
students and visiting scholars are welcome to attend.

What: Student Center post office will be closed for the summer.

What: Help Welcome New International Students to MIT
Contact: http://gsc.mit.edu/index.php/orientation/airport-shuttle/139-airport-shuttle-volunteer
We are in need of volunteers to help with our airport shuttle.
It will be a very small time commitment and it will have a good impact
for a student who is new to America and MIT. I hope that you can help
volunteer and be the face to an incoming international student.
If you are interested, please sign up here

What: Orientation 2009 - Volunteers
Where: http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/gsc-oc09-volunteers
Contact: gsc-oc at mit.edu
The GSC Orientation Committee has created a mailing list for
the volunteers. If you would like to help with the orientation
but do not know exactly how, where, and when, please go to:
http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/gsc-oc09-volunteers
and add yourself to the mailing list. During the orientation,
this mailing list will be used to notify the volunteers of the
needs for different events. There is practically no traffic on
the list between now and the week leading to the orientation.
