*GSC Travel Grant Application*
GSC Travel Grant is designed to support the conference-related travel
expenses of MIT graduate students in all Schools throughout the
Institute. Specifically, this fund is allocated to conference travel
expenses that are not currently funded by the student's advisor or
other MIT-related funding. The fund provides grant money for most
conference-related expenses including lodging.
The application deadline for Spring 2009 is February 15th.

*GSC Athletic and Performance Activities Grant*
Period covered: March 1 - June 1, 2009
Application deadline: February 19, 2009
The purpose of the Athletic/Performance-Activities Grant is to support
graduate students who pursue a non-research/non-academic activity at
competitive levels. The grant is designed to support MIT graduate
students who take part in competitions/concerts/events throughout the
year, both nationally and internationally.
The grant can cover fees and expenses such as registration,
accommodation, travel (air, car rental, gas, tolls, parking, public
transportation) and equipment shipment if needed.
For competitions/concerts/events happening between March 1 and June 1
of 2009, fill out the application found at:

and email it to gsc-grant at mit.edu

*Get money for collaborating!*
The GSC has funds to help collaborating groups put on their events.
Typical funding amounts are $100-$600 per event.
The requirements to apply are:
1. Two or more groups must be collaborating to organize an event;
preference is given to groups that would not normally work together.
2. Collaborating groups must be graduate ASA-recognized groups.
To apply, please send a description of the proposed event (one or
two paragraphs) as well as an itemized budget to gsc-ac at mit.edu and
gsc-hca at mit.edu, indicating how much you are requesting. There is no
application deadline, so apply as needed!

*MIT Graduate Student Council 55th Anniversary Celebration*
Time: Wednesday, March 4, 6:30-8PM
Location: Walker Memorial
This academic year marks the 55th anniversary of the MIT Graduate
Student Council. To commemorate this milestone, the GSC will hold its
55th Anniversary Celebration on March 4, 6:30-8PM in Walker Memorial
(1st floor of Bldg 50, the Walker Memorial Bldg).
The event will bring together past GSC members with current graduate
students and MIT administrators. The evening's agenda includes a
reception with dinner and drinks, a break-out session, and concluding
remarks. The groups for the break-out sessions will be themed around
topics that are central to the GSC's mission.
