*GSC Ski Trip: Jan 22-25*

The graduate student annual trip to Sunday River, cosponsored by
Snowriders and the Graduate Student Council is back again for
January 2009! The trip will be Jan 22-25.  Enjoy slopeside condos,
free group lessons, 3 days of skiing (including 2 night skiing),
and plenty of social activities all for $250.

Tickets will go on sale Wed, Dec 3 at 12pm.  The spots usually sell
out VERY FAST, within the first 24 hours.  All graduate students
and postdocs are welcome with up to 1 guest per student/post-doc.

Transforming MIT:
How would YOU change MIT to create a more balanced, welcoming community?

- Have you ever complained about life at MIT?
- What would you do to make MIT a more welcoming, inclusive community?
- How would you initiate change?
- Would you like to win a cash prize for your idea?

Learn about a new Institute-wide contest to transform MIT sponsored  
by the MIT Committee on Race and Diversity (CRD)
This contest is open to everyone at MIT
(faculty, staff, support staff, graduate and undergraduate students)

We want your ideas for transforming MIT into a more welcoming place  
for everyone
Submit your proposals for change.
Ideas can be visual/multi-media, research papers, policy papers,  
programmatic and event ideas

$1,000.00 for first prizes (up to three first prizes)
$500.00 for second prizes (up to three second prizes)
$200.00 for third prize (up to three third prizes)

We'll have details on the contest and FREE FOOD at the Kick off  
reception Wednesday

Proposals are due on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 5:00 pm

You'll have a chance to send us preliminary outlines for your  
proposals and ideas and be able to receive feedback from our  
subcommittee.    There will be several brainstorming/visioning  
sessions scheduled during IAP.

Come to the Kick-off reception, enjoy some good food and find out how  
you can change MIT and win cash prizes!
