*Installation Ceremony for New Chaplain to the Institute*

On Sunday, September 30, 2007, MIT will install Dr. Robert M. Randolph
as its first chaplain to the Institute, with a ceremony at 5:30 pm in
Kresge Auditorium.  The installation of Dr. Randolph is the first of its
kind and begins a new era of spiritual leadership at MIT.

President Susan Hockfield will speak at the ceremony as will leaders
representing many religious traditions.  In addition, several MIT
organizations and representatives will participate in the ceremony,
including performances by Techiya and the MIT Gospel Choir.

As chaplain to the Institute, Dr. Randolph and the Board of Chaplains
work together to foster interfaith discourse and to educate the MIT
community about the history and role of religions around the world.
Dr. Randolph is already well known on campus for his work coordinating
pastoral response in times of crisis, raising the profile of religious
life and leading reflection on issues of social justice and core values.

Wednesday, October 3 - The IAP Externship Program online application
process will open October 3!  The Externship Program matches you with
alumni in their workplace for job shadowing and/or practical experience.
Alumni around the world are looking to work with you!  Come to an
information session on October 3 at 7:30 p.m. in 4-231.
