*Summer 2007 Academic Career Series -  3rd Event

All interested students are invited to the Academic Career Series -
panels on topics on academic careers, featuring MIT faculty, alumni
faculty from area schools, and MIT PhDs/Postdocs who've successfully
been through an academic job search and will be starting new faculty
positions for the coming academic year. Q&A follows each panel
presentation.

**Surviving Your First Year as an Assistant Professor**

*MIT Olympic Day (Graduate Olympic Games)*

Tired of summer life at MIT? Want to strech and have fun? Let's get
together and beat the heat! The MIT CSSA, GSC, Sangam, S&P, THRA and
Ashdown are proud to present MIT Olympic Day, featuring excellent games,
fantastic prizes and an award ceremony with free food!

TIME: 9AM - 4PM, July 21, 2007
VENUE: Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center

GAMES:
Soccer - teams of 7 players
Basketball - teams of 5 players
Volleyball - teams of 3 players
Frisbee - teams of 6 players
Badminton - only doubles game
Table tennis-  only singles matches
Funny games - onsite registration

ENTRANCE FEE:
Any player should pay a $7 entry fee to access Z-center unless he/she has
purchased a $40 summer pass.

AWARD CEREMONY:
Award ceremony will be held at the Sidney Pacific pool party (SP courtyard).
Enjoy the FREE Indian and Chinese food, BBQ, music, and of course the
fantastic prizes.

REGISTRATION:
Send an email to ruihu at mit.edu and gongb at mit.edu, along with the game
you want to play, your team members' names and email addresses. Please
indicate 'Olympics Registration' in the subject line.

Deadline: 11:59pm, July 17, 2007

*Apply to Serve on an Institute/Faculty Committee!*

During this time of the school year, there are several open Institute and
Faculty committee positions requiring graduate student representation.  This
is a great opportunity to serve on some very influential faculty-appointed
and presidential-appointed committees.
