*2007 MIT Career Fair GSC Director Search*

The GSC is looking for its next two directors for the annual MIT Career
Fair. The Fair is the largest of its kind in the country, attracting
over 290 companies (and 4500 students) in 2006, and is entirely student-
run through a partnership of GSC, the graduating class, and the Society
of Women Engineers. Additionally, GSC's entire share of the revenue
from Career Fair goes directly toward its funding of graduate student
groups and activities. If you're interested in working with companies
like Microsoft, Oracle, Shell, Bridgewater Associates, Google, and
Schlumberger in an entirely new way, then send an e-mail to
vivekj at mit.edu with a brief statement of purpose and description of any
previous relevant experience(s) that may qualify you for the position
of director. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 2nd.

*Physicians for Human Rights: The Genocide in Darfur*

Thursday, March 1, 6-8pm, 10-250

Karen Hirschfeld is the Sudan Coordinator for Physicians for Human
Rights in Cambridge, MA. She manages all aspects of the organization's
programs in Sudan, including planning and implementing human rights
investigations in Sudan and Chad as well as managing an on-going
training grant with a Sudanese-based organization treating torture
victims. She co-wrote "Darfur- Assault on Survival", an evidence-based
report arguing that the destruction of livelihoods by the Sudanese Army
and Janjaweed militias constitutes genocide, and recommends the
engagement of a UN peacekeeping force in Darfur and the creation of a
Compensation Commission to enable victims to rebuild their lives.

She will be discussing the groups findings in Darfur and the current
situation on the ground. Particular attention will be focused on what we
as students can do to be most effective at stopping the ongoing genocide.
