*Graduate Student Volunteer Day*

Graduate Student Volunteer Day (GSVD) is a community service day for
graduate students organized by various groups from all around campus. It
has been happening since 2001, with an attendance of over 100 students
each year. It is a great way to give back to the community outside of
MIT's walls, to get to know fellow students, and to find out more about
the culture of the city. This year's volunteer sites include
Massachusetts CoastSweep, The Salvation Army, and Charles River
Conservancy.

Date: Saturday September 16, 2006
Schedule:
8:45-9:00am Introduction & Breakfast in Student Centre
9:00-9:30am Transportation to volunteering sites
9:30-1:30pm Work at volunteer sites
1:30-2:00pm Transportation back to MIT
2:00-3:00pm Lunch at Kresge BBQ pits (rain site Johnson overhang)

Detailed project description and registration: http://gsc.mit.edu/gsvd.
Registration closes at 5pm, Thursday September 14
E-mail contact: gsvd at mit.edu

This event is sponsored by the MIT Graduate Student Council, Public
Service Center, and Graduate Students Office.

*MIT Career Fair 2006*

For all information regarding the 2006 MIT Career Fair, visit
http://career-fair.mit.edu/

Particularly, you can apply to be a member of a Student Focus group or a
Company liaison!

Each Student Focus Group--a panel of six students who address questions
from an audience consisting of Career Fair Sponsors--provides employers
with a first-hand perspective of what students consider most important
in their job selections. One Student Focus Group is specifically for
employers wishing to recruit students in the schools of Business and
Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, while the other Student Focus
Group is specifically for employers wishing to recruit Science and
Engineering students. To apply for a panelist position for the Student
Focus Groups, please note the Student Focus Group for which you would
like to be considered and send your resume to
career-fair-directors at mit.edu as either a Word document or pdf file by
Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 11:59 PM. The selected panelists will be
contacted by Sunday, September 17, 2006.
