Officer nominations will be opening at this month's meeting, so
if you're interested in running for a position or would like more

1. GSC Bruins Game
GSC Activities presents
Boston Bruins vs. Washington Capitals
Thursday, April 1
7 pm
Fleet Center
Come see the Boston Bruins vs the Washington Capitals on Thursday,
April 1, 2004, at 7pm at the Fleet Center. GSC is selling tickets for
$16 to MIT graduate students and post-docs and $20 for guests. Purchase
tickets at the GSC office 50-220. Limit 2 tickets per person. Tickets go
on sale starting Thursday, March 18th at 2pm!
2. Art Show Submissions
The Hidden Jewels of our Community
Annual Art Show-Submissions due March 15
Supported by your student life fee
Our juried art exhibit will provide graduate student artists and their
spouses and partners an opportunity to display their talents on campus.
It will be held in the Bush Room on April 22 and 23. We will have an
opening night/charity fundraiser event on the 22nd, and on April 23, the
exhibit will be open free of charge to the community.
The jury will consist of members of the MIT community, and artists will
be informed of their acceptance into the show by April 2nd. All medium
are welcome (paintings, photographs, sculpture, textiles, etc.).
This is your chance to shine-submit your work today!

3. Preparing Effective CVs and Cover Letters
FRI., MARCH 12, 11am-12:30pm
This program will be useful for those planning to enter the academic job
market. in
the future. Hear a faculty member's perspective on etiquette of asking for
recommendations, the search committee's perspective, etc. Get an overview
of the
timeline for preparing for your academic job search. Other topics include
preparing a
research or teaching statement, writing effective cover letters. Bring 3
copies of
your CV or draft for a peer critiquing exercise.
