To all our friends who are coming to the MIT Great Glass Pumpkin
Patch, In the past, we have not had to pay attention to parking
issues, but last year we had some problems with a few cars parked in
restricted places.

So, in order to make the event go more smoothly all around this year,
we have arranged with MIT Parking to make sure that the West Garage
Annex* and the West Garage** will be open and free for Pumpkin Patch
parking on Saturday 10/6. The West garage is on Vassar Street a couple
of hundred yards west of Massachusetts Avenue, across Vassar from the
athletic fields. There will be a sandwich board sign on Vassar Street
indicating the entrance to the lot. This is the ONLY MIT lot that will
be officially open for Pumpkin Patch parking. It is a big lot and can
hold plenty of cars, and it is close to Kresge Oval.

Please do NOT park anywhere on Amherst Street (that is all restricted
parking), or in any other MIT restricted parking spaces. This upsets
all kinds of people (including Campus Activities, who allows us to use
the Oval), and thus endangers our ability to continue the event in
this location the future.

There may be metered parking available on some of the surrounding
streets, but do not count on being able to get in and out of the
Pumpkin Patch in one hour, because, despite our efforts to provide
efficient service, the lines can be long.

Thanks for your cooperation, and we're looking forward to seeing you
at this year's event!

Peter
